Project Description
Entrance to the pandemic home
Orriols has a wall. A wall that separates two streets of the neighborhood and that isolated some neighbors from the rest. This wall, since 1960 until today, has a hole that allows access to the other part of the neighborhood without the need to go around the block: the hole of shame.
This passage was created by the residents of the neighborhood and connects the streets of Agustín Lara and Baeza. The building that blocked the passage belonged to the Balaguer restaurant and the reason for the creation of this escape is that the demolition of said wall implied having to deal with the rights of private owners.
This entrance is an essential icon of the neighborhood that has become a home for its neighbors during the pandemic, especially in confinement. I would like to highlight te neighborhood as a home, and the hole of shame as the door or entrance to that neighborhood home.
