It lends itself to imagining what Los Alcázares would be like if its urban map were to change. Maps capture the objective identity of towns and cities; people – and especially the occupants of those towns – are engaged in creating the subjective identity according to their experience.

New LA is part of the imagined identity. It begins as a game, but after the artist’s homogenisation of the city centre, the map is reconstructed and becomes meaningless. The objective and subjective identities of Los Alcázares become obsolete.
