Project Description

A room of my own

Contextualization of the work: this installation is linked to the TFG. Which treats women who have not been able to enjoy a room of their own due to gender issues. Forced to share a space as intimate as the bedroom. An idea that arises from the need to emphasize the importance of having a private place for oneself and its pertinent privacy. Making visible the inequalities that, no matter how normalized they may be, such as having a room of their own, women have suffered throughout their lives. Taking as reference the essay by Virgina Woolf, “A Room of My Own”.

All this stems from realizing from the state of alarm and the pandemic situation that we have experienced and we continue to experience how important it is to have your space. Therefore I decided to take advantage of this exercise to talk about my room and create an installation on the bank of the Plaza de la Mayor in my neighborhood to locate it.

First of all, what I did is be clear about what objects are necessary for my room. The photos are in B&W since it is the way I like to work with the camera the most.

The first photos have been a more careful arrangement but wanting to simulate that there is disorder and in the last ones what I have done is that everything fits in the bank. Being able that my room had a place in it.
