Jeanne Portejoie

Hello, my name is Jeanne Portejoie. I come from France and especially from the Aquitaine region where the city of Bordeaux is located. We often know Bordeaux for the image of wine, it is the first cliché to emerge. Well, I admit that the wine here is very good, come and taste it. But I love this place and especially this region for what it gives me in terms of cultural and landscape diversity.

When you live in this city, despite yourself, you still have a strong relationship with the water, the river, the Garonne. That breath of fresh air in the city that allows you to escape the speed of the world around it. I love the city for all that it abounds in it, the speed of the events that unfold allows a significant creative freedom, which will attract people who know how to discover it. I love the city because it is the field of all possibilities, you can integrate yourself in the city and make the city your experience.

Today I am in Valencia on Erasmus in a School of Architecture for 6 months, and I was able to experiment with some photographs on the notion of speed and the relationship with time that has been reinforced in particular with covid 19. I was able to expose my photos in the street to capture new images and thus use the city as a place of expression. That’s why I love the size of the city because we give everyone the opportunity to make a little space for themselves. The image we make of him (“l’image qu’on s’en fait”), a documentary by Seb Coupy tells us about the image we have of a territory versus its reality.
